Wuppertal is a city with many hills and the traffic is dominated by cars. But how can students living there be motivated to ride bicycles? Within my bachelor thesis at the University of Wuppertal I developed an entire service concept for a realistic and scalable e-bike rental by using different techniques of Design Thinking.
I especially focussed on the user experience and a collaborative process, working together with users and other stakeholders. Therefore, I used methods as cultural probes, touchpoint matrix, customer journey map and service staging. I created the service experience in a way that makes it practicable and easy to implement at the University in the future.
The basic idea of „Radup!“ is to pass the e-bikes continuously from one student to the other so that there is no need to built rental stations first. Thus, it is possible to operate the rental service in a small scale with limited costs. Main instrument is a mobile app for searching and booking the e-bikes. Students can log in, communicate with each other and organize the bike transfer self-reliant.
Part of the bachelor thesis was also the corporate design as well as a responsive website about the project with a short image film and the app as a fully designed, structured and clickable mockup. At the moment the app is being programmed, based on my mockup and design. The project „Radup!“ is adopted from the University’s Department of Ecology and Transport of the General Students’ Committee and will be provided soon (see press report).
